The spacious Ford Galaxy is one of the most comfortable people-carriers to travel in, and it is easy to drive too. This versatile and well-specified MPV is available in the following trim levels: Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X.
The Galaxy’s front fascia features a distinctive upper grille and louvres, all finished in chrome. Other head-turning elements include 17-inch 20-spoke alloy wheels secured with locking nuts, and black-finished roof rails. Body-coloured fixtures include door handles and power-operated, folding and heated door mirrors, the latter of which feature integrated indicators and puddle lights. Further illumination includes courtesy-delay headlights, front fog lamps, daytime running lights and rear LED lights.
A seven-person cabin provides front-row occupants with four-way adjustable seating that also offers adjustable lumbar support. The driver further benefits from a rake-and-reach steering wheel, which, along with the vehicle’s gear knob, is leather-clad. Other standard features include Ford Power Button Starter, power-assisted steering, dual-zone air conditioning, rear-compartment air conditioning, one-touch power-operated front and rear windows and remote-controlled central locking.
Access to the Galaxy’s back row is made easy thanks to sliding and reclining second and third-row seats. Useful stowage provision includes under-seat compartments in the front row and cup holders, as well as seat-back trays and tables. A 300-litre boot capacity (all seats up) rises to 1,301 litres (third row folded) and to 2,339 litres (rear two rows folded).
A 1.5-litre 158bhp petrol engine delivers up to 43.5mpg and a 149g/km CO2 emissions figure. Alternatively, a 2.0-litre diesel engine, producing either 118bhp or 148bhp, is the most fuel-efficient choice, returning as much as 56.5mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 129g/km. Each option is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, and all engine choices come with a start/stop system. This automatically turns off the engine when it isn’t required, thus reducing unnecessary fuel consumption.
An eight-speaker sound system (featuring DAB radio, a CD player and AM/FM radio), SYNC 2, an eight-inch touchscreen and USB, SD and AUX connectivity are standard inclusions.
Driver aids include Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and front and rear parking sensors. The vehicle has been awarded a five-star rating by Euro NCAP, and passive safety features include seatbelt reminders, seatbelt pre-tensioners and force-limiters, child-proof rear doors and multiple airbags.
